Why there are links at all
Slow cooker writing runs into equipment constantly: a recipe timed in a six-quart oval does not behave in a three-quart round, and a probe thermometer is the difference between guessing at doneness and knowing it. When a guide depends on a specific piece of equipment, we link to one, and that link is how the site pays for itself.
How a product gets recommended
- It appears in the cooking, not next to it — the pot, the liner, the thermometer, the rack we actually reference in the method.
- Size and capacity are stated, because the timing on this site is written against a stated pot size.
- Reviews are read for the failure mode, not the star average: what breaks, what scorches, what runs hot.
- Commission rate never affects placement or order. A higher-paying product does not move up the page.
Where the links appear
Equipment mentions inside method steps, roundups of a single category, and comparison guides. Recipe pages that need no equipment beyond a pot you already own carry no affiliate links at all.
